A Long December by Counting Crows

    by georgejetson

now this is an AWESOME song....learn to play it give credit to the counting crows

    Long December    by Counting Crows

    Transcribed By Matt J. MacDonald

Here is a correcction and improvment on a file posted earlier,
it is easier to play it this way because there are no barre
chords (because of the capo) with just one guitar accompanying
yourself for instance. It probably sounds ok with a band too. Enjoy!

*****CAPO 3*****(actual chords in brackets for piano purposes)

    INTRO: D(F) G(Bb) Em(Gm) G(Bb)
           D(F) G(Bb) Em(Gm)...(add7)?  <-----(not too sure)

right before the words come in do this:
    (relative to the capo)
    A|------------------------
    E|-103-------------------
and on the 3 come in with the G(Bb) chord

    G(Bb)           D(F)        A(C)           Em(Gm)
A long December and there's reason to believe
            G(Bb)            D(F)             G(Bb)
Maybe this year will be better than the last
    Em(Gm)       G(Bb)    D(F)            A(C)                Em(Gm)
I can't remember the last thing  you said as you were leavin'
            D(F)         G(Bb)
Now the days go by so fast

    Chorus:
                D(F)         G(Bb)             Em(Gm)
And it's one more day up in the canyons
                D(F)          G(Bb)            Em(Gm)
And it's one more night in Hollywood
                D(F)            G(Bb)       Em(Gm)...|
If you think that I could be forgiven...         I wish you would

    D(F)      G(Bb)
    Na na na na
    Em(Gm)      G(Bb)
Na na na na na na na na na
    D(F)      G(Bb) Em(Gm)
    Na na na na yeah

    G(Bb)           D(F)           A(C)
    The smell of hospitals in
    winter
             Em(Gm)           G(Bb)          D(F)           G(Bb)
And the feeling that it's all a lot of oysters, but no pearls
    Em(Gm)  G(Bb)          D(F)            A(C)
All at once you look across a crowded room
               Em(Gm)            D(F)        G(Bb)
To see the way that light attaches to a girl

                D(F)           G(Bb)          Em(Gm)
And it's one more day up in the canyons
                D(F)             G(Bb)        Em(Gm)
And it's one more night in Hollywood
                  D(F)               G(Bb)      Em(Gm)... |
If you think you might come to California.        ..I think you should

    D(F)      G(Bb)
    Na na na na
    Em(Gm)      G(Bb)
Na na na na na na na na na
    D(F)      G(Bb)    Em(Gm)
    Na na na na yeah

    SOLO:(over same chords)

    G(Bb)         D(F)            A(C)            Em(Gm)
Drove up to Hillside Manor sometime after two a.m.
          G(Bb)             D(F)           G(Bb)
And talked a little while about the year
    Em(Gm)            G(Bb)        D(F)            A(C)
I guess the winter makes you laugh a little slower,
               Em(Gm)          D(F)            G(Bb)
Makes you talk a little lower about the things you could not show her

                    G(Bb)    D(F)               A(C)        Em(Gm)
And it's been a long December and there's reason to believe
             G(Bb)            D(F)             G(Bb)
Maybe this year will be better than the last
    Em(Gm)       G(Bb)        D(F)            A(C)
I can't remember all the times I tried to tell myself
            Em(Gm)        D(F)             G(Bb)
To hold on to these moments as they pass
                D(F)         G(Bb)            Em(Gm)
And it's one more day up in the canyon
                D(F)            G(Bb)         Em(Gm)
And it's one more night in Hollywood
               D(F)               G(Bb)        Em(Gm)...NC |
It's been so long since I've seen the ocean...    I guess I should

(do this next part 4X)     (on 3rd time you can play the solo over,
D(F)      G(Bb)            but it might not sound good without at least
Na na na na           2 guitars.)
    Em(Gm)      G(Bb)
Na na na na na na na na na
    D(F)      G(Bb)   Em(Gm)
    Na na na na yeah
    (last time:)
    Em(Gm)    Em(Gm)    Em(Gm)
    yeah...yeah.....yeah

    I miss you Jerry

    by georgejetson

Another one of the worlds best songs...a gift to the world by Hunter and Garcia

    "Mission In The Rain"
Words by Robert Hunter, music by Jerry Garcia
Copyright Ice Nine Publishing; used by permission.

    I turn and walk away
    then I come round again
    It looks as though tomorrow
I'll do very much the same

I must turn down your offer
but I'd like to ask a break
You know I'm ready to give everything
    for anything I take

    Someone called my name
You know, I turned around to see
It was midnight in the Mission
and the bells were not for me

    Come again
Walking along in the Mission in the rain
    Come again
Walking along in the Mission in the rain

Ten years ago I walked this street
    my dreams were ridin tall
    Tonight I would be thankful
Lord, for any dream at all

    Some folks would be happy
just to have one dream come true
    but everything you gather
is just more that you can lose

    Come again
Walking along in the Mission in the rain
    Come again
Walking along in the Mission in the rain

All the things I planned to do
    I only did half way
    Tomorrow will be Sunday
    born of rainy Saturday

    There's some satisfaction
    in the San Francisco rain
    No matter what comes down
the Mission always looks the same

    Come again
Walking along in the Mission in the rain
    Come again
Walking along in the Mission in the rain

    Cake
    Motorcade of Generosity (1994)
    Rock'n'Roll Lifestyle

Well, your CD collection looks shiny and costly.
How much did you pay for your bad Moto Guzi?
And how much did you spend on your black leather jacket?
Is it you or your parents in this income tax bracket?

Now tickets to concerts and drinking at clubs,
Sometimes for music that you haven't even heard of.
And how much did you pay for your rock'n'roll t-shirt
    That proves you were there,
That you heard of them first?

How do you afford your rock'n'roll lifestyle?
How do you afford your rock'n'roll lifestyle?
How do you afford your rock'n'roll lifestyle?
    Ah, tell me.

How much did you pay for the chunk of his guitar,
The one he ruthlessly smashed at the end of the show?
And how much will he pay for a brand new guitar,
One which he'll ruthlessly smash at the end of another show?
And how long will the workers keep building him new ones?
As long as their soda cans are red, white, and blue ones.
And how long will the workers keep building him new ones?
As long as their soda cans are red, white, and blue ones.

Aging black leather and hospital bills,
Tattoo removal and dozens of pills.
Your liver pays dearly now for youthful magic moments,
But rock on completely with some brand new components.

How do you afford your rock'n'roll lifestyle?
How do you afford your rock'n'roll lifestyle?
How do you afford your rock'n'roll lifestyle?

    Excess ain't rebellion.
    You're drinking what they're selling.
    Your self-destruction doesn't hurt them.
    Your chaos won't convert them.
They're so happy to rebuild it.
    You'll never really kill it.
    Yeah, excess ain't rebellion.
    You're drinking what they're selling.
    Excess ain't rebellion.
    You're drinking,
    You're drinking,
    You're drinking what they're selling.
